Networking leads to opportunities for one-on-one business conversations.
At Rainmakers this morning (www.gorainmakers.com) we created a list of guidelines for conducting effective one-on-ones!
Respect the timeframe
Give each person time to talk
Turn off cell phones
Be a good listener
State your target market by having a good focus
Learn about each other
Send info prior to your one-on-one
Don't try to close a sale
If you don't know the person/company, do a little research prior to the one-on-one
Prequalify your objective
Remember that it's building relationships, not to sell
Prepare to follow up after the one-on-one
Set up your meetings on neutral ground
Find out what they don't want as well as what they do
Tell what makes you stand out from all the competition
Exchange your cell phone numbers
Confirm time/location prior to meeting; be on time
If you are inviting, let them talk first
It's OK to have a one-on-one just for fun
