Government funding allows many children from poor families to attend early childhood and after-school programs. However, many parents who do not qualify for these vouchers still cannot afford quality education and care for their children. AYS, Inc., a not-for-profit agency that operates 45 before- and after-school and early childhood programs in central Indiana, tries to accommodate these families through sliding fee scales and the AYS Financial Assistance Fund.
